Monday’s Media Madness (4)

Over the last few days, Mel and I have been tossing music back and forth, sharing some of our recent faves. I must admist, I really haven’t been listening to music much, opting more for audiobooks. I’m so glad we started this; I’m feeling totally out of touch with what’s on the radio or what’s even remotely new out there. I’m terrified of becoming one of those people that only listens to “oldies” (in my case, 80′s and 90′s stuff :p ) or even worse, anything played on a Disney channel!

Anyway, we’ve found one song that we had in common, though it’s probably going to get overplayed to the point of becoming annoying. Naturally, I’m posting it to share the earworm ;)

Somebody That I Used to Know by Gotye:

Also, this one has Mel’s attention at the moment:

Tonight by John Legend ft. Ludacris

As for me, I’m loving the new Drake song with Rihanna, Take Care. I’m not a big fan of Drake, particularly when he’s rapping, but I enjoy his singing voice (you have to close your eyes and just listen, ’cause I couldn’t find the actual video) :

Now, I want to ask you all out there: do you or can you listen to music while you are reading? It’s a big thing that authors will release their own playlists from their book writing process. Could you (do you) write with background music? Do you create your own playlists to books that you’re reading? Lastly, what are your earworms right now?

I’ve been listening to Gotye for awhile now – I’m not sure he’s hit annoying level yet but close lol. If you like Kimbra (the girl in the video check her out too – she’s really good, especially Settle Down)

Sometimes I leave on the Palladia music channel in the background when I’m reading. More as background noise though. I don’t keep it loud enough to really listen.

I’m listening to Ed Sheeran right now because I’m seeing him in concert this week.

I had to check out Kimbra too :) I listened to Settle Down and another song, the name escapes me now..

Not sure I’ve heard Ed Sheeran so I’m off to YouTube him, lol. Thanks!

  2. Hmm, I usually don’t listen to music so I can concentrate on what I’m reading, get lost there. But when I do listen it’s because of trying to block out the tv while husband is watching lol. But with that it’s nothing heavy in tones or beats, so I’m not lost into it rather than the book.

I hear ya! I think my issue with music is my need to sing along; that makes it hard to concentrate ;p
